Mini cooper run flat tires3/1/2024 So far, this subreddit has been very welcoming so my first thought was to come to all of you for advice. I'm looking for guidance and patience right now and any advice would be helpful. Given that this is my first mini, there's so much I don't know and I'm trying to learn as quickly as I can but the amount of information I've read can feel a little overwhelming sometimes. I'm not sure if I should stick it out with the Honkooks (or try a different brand run flat) or if I should take the risk of regular tires. A little more context: I live in Baltimore with less than ideal city driving conditions (potholes galore) and winters that can be challenging. I absolutely love my car and want to do whatever is best to keep it in the best shape possible for as long as I can so if replacing the tires and voiding the warranty is necessary then so be it. Will replacing the run flats really make a world of a difference? As I said before, the Hankooks are fine but that's it- not really mind blowing or anything. On one side I've seen people talking about how they replaced their run flat tires immediately which vastly improved the ride/performance of the car and on the other people giving rave reviews and insisting that run flats are king. The car came with Hankook Optimo run flat 205/45R17 tires and so far aren't horrendously problematic but I'm wondering if there is a better option. Should I suck it up and keep using run flat tires until the warranty expires (6 years) or should I say screw the warranty and buy regular tires? I am seeing wildly different reviews regarding other run flats in the Pirelli and Continental lineup so I'm feeling a little conflicted. Hello, everyone! I recently purchased a 2019 Mini Cooper S (I posted a photo a few days ago) and am struggling a bit with the run flat vs regular tire debate.įor some background information: I was talked into purchasing the wheel and tire warranty package by the dealership which essentially boils down to this: they will replace my tires (and rims depending on the situation) but only if they are OEM runflats.
